Emergency Radiology
Overview
The Emergency Radiology section at Rutgers NJMS is comprised of team of dedicated emergency radiologists who are on service alongside residents during the evening and overnight shifts, which enables 24/7 attending radiologist coverage at University Hospital. The Emergency Department at University Hospital has high imaging volume with a wide spectrum of pathology in a diverse patient population, and also houses a busy Level I Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Not only does the continuous radiology attending coverage enhance patient care, it also allows for close resident supervision and real-time feedback, transforming the on-call experience into a truly educational experience for residents. Our emergency radiologists also provide residents and medical students with didactic lectures and case conferences, offer mentoring and research opportunities, and serve on committees and expert panels for national radiology societies. The Emergency Radiology section collaborates closely with the other radiology divisions, as well as with the Emergency Department and Division of Trauma Surgery and engages in ongoing quality improvement efforts to ensure the highest level of service to our patients as well as to our referring providers.
