Our fellows rotate through University Hospital, which is one of the nation's leading academic medical centers, and is the Level 1 Trauma Center for Northern New Jersey. Located at University Heights in Newark, University Hospital is a principal teaching hospital of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and a regional resource for advanced services across many medical specialties. In addition to outpatient and the 519 bed in patient center, UH also is home to the Rutgers Cancer of Newark. The Cancer Center houses an infusion center where many of our patients receive their infusion medications.

The Department of Veterans Affairs NJ Health Care System

The New Jersey VA Medical Center is a teaching hospital affiliated with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, located 3 miles away from the University Hospital. The fellows will take part in outpatient rheumatology practice at the VA center through general rheumatology clinics. The rotation has a heavy emphasis on rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathies and crystalline arthropathy. This patient population provides an ideal complement to the clinical spectrum at the other campus. The inpatient consult service provides a wealth of opportunity for mastering procedural skills as well as seeing a variety of rheumatologic disorders.
