Dr. Rachel Kaye
Dr. Rachel Kaye is the newly hired laryngologist at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Her clinical expertise lies in the treatment of laryngeal disorders, especially those that affect voice, breathing, and swallowing. She has a special interest in the medical and surgical treatment of vocal fold problems like cysts, polyps, nodules, scars, and performing voice issues as well as airway disorders such as tracheal stenosis, tracheomalacia, and laryngeal stenosis or scarring. She also enjoys treating throat/laryngeal cancers, swallowing disorders, and neurologic voice disorders including spasmodic dysphonia, tremor, and vocal fold paresis/paralysis.

Biography:
Dr. Rachel Kaye is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical Center . She is a fellowship-trained otolaryngologist/head and neck surgeon with expertise in the care of laryngeal disorders, encompassing both medical and surgical management of performing voice disorders, benign and malignant laryngeal diseases, voice restoration, airway management, airway stenosis treatment, and swallowing rehabilitation. Dr. Kaye also specializes in the diagnosis and management of neurolaryngology disorders, including spasmodic dysphonia, tremor, and others. Prior to joining Rutgers New Jersey Medical School she was an Attending Otolaryngologist at Mount Sinai West and Roosevelt Hospitals.
Dr. Kaye grew up in western Massachusetts and completed her undergraduate B.A. degree in both mathematics and biology at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. She was awarded the prestigious Dean’s Award Scholarship, was conferred Dean’s List status consistently throughout her undergraduate education, and graduated cum laude. She then matriculated to Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York and concurrently served as a research associate and project coordinator for the Montefiore Otolaryngology Surgical Simulation Center. She then completed residency training in Otorhinolarynology – Head & Neck Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center. During her specialized residency training she was able to attain multiple regional awards and lead multiple research projects. Her research has led to numerous peer-reviewed original research and review publications, grand rounds, lectures, book chapters, and oral and poster presentations at the local, regional, and national level with over 30 of these combined. She was graciously awarded the title of Academic Chief Resident during her ultimate year in residency training due to her dedication to improve resident training and outstanding patient care.
Following her residency, she subsequently pursued specialized fellowship training in Laryngology at the New York Center for Voice and Swallowing Disorders and Weill Cornell Medical College. During this training, she was mentored by world-renown Dr. Andrew Blitzer and Dr. Lucian Sulica in the intricacies of laryngeal dystonias, botulinum toxin, and professional voice. As part of her fellowship, Dr. Kaye was an attending otolaryngology surgeon at Mt. Sinai West and Roosevelt Hospital.
Dr. Kaye is a Diplomate of the America Board of Otolaryngology and a postgraduate member-elect of the American Laryngological Association. Dr. Kaye is an active clinician, educator, and researcher. Her clinical and research interests include minimally invasive laryngeal surgery, the care of the professional and performing voice, laryngeal stenosis, implementing 3-Dimensional printing, and neural modulation of neurolaryngology disorders. Her specialized training and research interests are what distinguishes Dr. Kaye from other surgeons and allows her to customize her surgical and medical management skills to meet her patients’ needs.
