About the Surrounding Area
Our school is located in Newark's University Heights, just minutes
away from the Redbulls Soccer Stadium in Harrison; the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC); the
Prudential Center (the ROCK), home of the New Jersey Devils
professional hockey team; Weequahic Golf Course; and Branch Brook Park
(home of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival). Manhattan and all of its
cultural offerings are only a 15-minute train ride away. University
Shuttle Service connects students with the campus of NJIT, Rutgers -
Newark, and Essex County Community College as well as transit hub
Newark Penn Station.
Our 65-acre campus consists of many connecting buildings, making
it convenient to travel from classrooms and labs to the library,
student housing and the University Hospital.
Newark
Some residents choose to live within walking distance of the Hospital.
There is apartment style On -Campus housing available at 180 W Market Street and Town houses/Condos in Society Hill across the street from the medical school. Other residents have chosen the
Ironbound section of Newark about 10 minute drive from the Hospital.
Hoboken
Approximately 10 miles by car, Hoboken is most popular amongst our
residents. Overlooking the NYC skyline, it provides direct access to
NYC and Newark by PATH train, and is a young, vibrant community with exciting nightlife of its own. For more information, click HERE.
Jersey City
Approximately 1o miles by car, also directly across the Hudson from
NYC, Jersey City provides easy access to Manhattan by subway, ferry and
car, while in itself an ethnically diverse community with panoramic
views and a multitude of dining opportunities.
Students live on and around campus or commute from nearby towns. Our on campus Student Housing facility located at 180 W. Market Street offers studio, one, two and
three bedroom apartments for students on the Newark Campus.
