  • Undergraduate College/University: NortheasternUniversity

  • Medical School: Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine

  • Outside Interests: hiking, camping, snowboarding, dessert
  • Why did you choose this program? I was looking for a program with high volume and co-residents who would support me professionally and personally.During my interview it was clear that all of the residents were friends at work and also spent a lot of time together outside of work. I also wanted a diverse experience in terms of patient population, pathology, and learning environments. Since day one of intern year I have felt like a valued member of the team and made some great friends. I cannot wait to see what the next few years hold!

  • Medical School: Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine

  • Outside Interests: Volleyball, interior design, spending time with my husband and 2 year old Australian Shepherd, Jackson
  • Why did you choose this program? I was looking for a program where I would receive strong surgical training and have the ability to enter general practice as a well-trained, competent physician or explore fellowship. I am a hands-on learner and a large clinical volume was a must for me. From the moment I started my interview day, I could tell that this program not only offered the academics I was looking for but also was one large family who supported each other.

  • Undergraduate College/University: Montclair State University

  • Medical School: Rutgers New Jersey Medical School

  • Outside Interests: Hiking, baking, houseplants, my fur babies, coffee, gardening
  • Why did you choose this program? As a former student of NJMS, I was drawn to this program because of how close everyone in the residency was. There is such a close knit bond between the classes and the culture is extremely supportive. This program also gives you experience working in two different hospital systems, one community based and one which is more academic based as well as drastically different patient populations. You get a wide exposure to all of the subspecialties and great mentorship.

  • Why did you choose this program? When I interviewed, I felt an instant connection to the residents as individuals that I could not only work with but would also become close friends with throughout residency. I love the blended model of the program with exposure to both private health care at Barnabas and a safety net hospital at University preparing me to care for every type of patient! The faculty also showed dedication to the education of the residents and worked with the residents to achieve their own career goals whether that be fellowship, academic medicine, or private healthcare.

  • Outside Interests: Snowboarding, martial arts (getting into Jiujitsu), EDM, music festivals, eating and drinking with friends!
  • Why did you choose this program?

I chose this program for many reasons! First, I loved that family feeling I felt, even from virtual interviews this year. This showed true as the residents were very approachable and supportive of me as soon as I started my rotations! Second, I loved the communiverisity model that merged the heavy clinical experience at Saint Barnabas with the more academic experience at University Hospital. You get the best of both worlds and I thought this was the perfect combo. Lastly, I chose this program to be closer to family and friends, after being away from home for medical school.
