Initiatives
The Department of Surgery DEI Committee is continuously working to expand on initiatives to exemplify our commitment to deliberately embed diversity, equity and inclusion into surgical training, research, service and patient care.
Some of the initiatives led or supported by members of the Department of Surgery are listed below.
Strategies to mitigate bias during residency interviews
The recruitment subcommittee worked closely with residency program leadership to create an evidence-based wholistic review of program applicants 1-9. In addition, formal implicit bias training for all faculty and resident interviewers has been implemented.
