General Surgery Division

The Division of General Surgery provides specialized services in the field of digestive disease surgery, including surgery of the liver, pancreas, biliary tract, stomach, small bowel and colon.  Faculty members in the division have special expertise in complex hernia repairs and abdominal wall reconstruction, and surgery of the endocrine glands, including the thyroid and parathyroid.  When clinically appropriate, minimally invasive surgical techniques are used to enhance the patient recovery time.

Another unique area of specialty is the medical and surgical therapy of surgical infections and chronic and acute wounds, including enteric fistulas. The faculty are proficient in the latest techniques of minimally invasive surgery and laparoscopic and robotic techniques.  The Division also offers expertise in the area of bloodless surgery and medicine.  Patients requiring re-operative or complex surgery are particularly welcomed for referral.
