Teaching Opportunities

Fellows have the opportunity to serve as small group facilitators for multiple courses at the medical school, including the Health Equity and Social Justice course for first and second year students.  In addition, they participate in the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Department of Psychiatry's annual Urban Mental Health conference.  They are included in buprenorphine waiver trainings that take place throughout the year.  As part of their scholarly projects, they create didactics for other learners at all levels at our institution, for example, on the role of the Addiction Consult service, or on Harm Reduction for patients who use opioids.  Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, our fellows teach and mentor students, residents, nurses and other health professionals as part of their work on our consult service and in our clinics.
