Clinical Services
Outpatient clinical
services in the Department of Psychiatry are provided for adults, children and
adolescents through the Department's Faculty Practice ambulatory care services. Emergency, inpatient and consultation liaison services are provided at University Hospital.
Out-Patient Services: Department of Psychiatry Faculty provide
psychiatric and psychological consultation and services in the Behavioral Health
Sciences Building located at 183 South Orange Avenue on the Newark Campus (973-972-2977). Our practitioners
have a wide range of expertise in fields of psychiatry, neuropsychological assessment and psychology.
Emergency and Inpatient Services: University Hospital Psychiatric Emergency
Service (973-972-6134) provide acute care and stabilization in a 6 bed psychiatric
emergency services unit. In coordination with the Screening Center, staffed
by University Behavioral Health Care, psychiatric attending physicians determine the need
for stabilization and hospitalization. Inpatient psychiatric services are
provided at University Hospital on the 34-bed G-Yellow unit (973-972-7708) where multi-disciplinary team provide a full range of psychiatric treatments.
Consultation Liaison Service: University Hospital Psychiatry Consultation Liaison
Service provides consultative expertise to the medical and surgical teams at the hospital. The Department's neuropsychologists provide assessments
and testing for a wide range of patients with learning disabilities, traumatic
brain injury, epilepsy and other disorders.
