Research Division
The Research Division in the Department
of Psychiatry conducts basic
and clinical research studies related to the cause, course, and treatment
of a wide range of behavioral health problems including schizophrenia, mood
disorders, autism, trauma, etc. Studies are supported by the NIH, private foundations,
and industry. In addition, the Research Division supports other divisions of
the department, through its focus on research
education. Faculty from the Research Division are responsible for
a didactic course in Clinical Research Methods, offered to second year psychiatric
residents and child psychiatry trainees. Research faculty are assigned as mentors
to residents and trainees, to guide the conduct of a scholarly activity project.
Ongoing research education series include the monthly journal club, attended
by residents and child trainees as well as clinical and research faculty, and
a Brown Bag Lunch series focused on informal discussion/support surrounding
a diverse range of research topics.
